Stage 4 restrictions and when MPG will reopen

Firstly we'd like to thank you, the Masters Pet Grooming community for supporting us over the last four years, you've been absolutely amazing!

2020 has been a very trying year for many people and we are exceptionally thankful to be living in this amazing country! As Melbourne remains in stage 4 restrictions for at least another month (until at least late October), several grooming salons can resume daily operations.

Unfortunately, there is an exceptionally large proportion of groomers that are not allowed to open:

Home based groomers

Mobile groomers

As you know, we fit into the former group - technically all non-retail facilities based groomers are restricted from operating.

5km rule DHHS "Where possible, you should postpone pet grooming if it will require you to travel beyond 5km unless the grooming is for animal welfare reasons"

Many of you would have seen and signed the change.org petition to have groomers reopen (thank you!) - now there is another; for mobile and home based salons to reopen.

MPG will remain non-political, but ask that if you would like to get MPG back up and operating, please feel free sign the petition here.

I have phoned the following politicians and government departments clarifying the situation:

The Honourable Jill Hennessy

603/2 Main St, Point Cook VIC 3030

(03) 9395 0221

The Honourable Dan Andrews

517A Princes Hwy, Noble Park VIC 3174

The Department of Health & Human Services

50 Lonsdale Street, Melbourne VIC 3000

1300 650 172

Business Victoria (Department of Jobs, Precincts and Regions)

121 Exhibition Street, Melbourne VIC 3000

13 22 15

We are devastated that we must wait a further 4 (four) weeks until we are able to open.

We will be opening booking closer to the date we are allowed to open, so please, keep your eyes and ears open for our updates!
